The Troubadour accepts works of short fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and visual art. Put differently: if it's made up of words or images, send it our way. Email all submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org, with the word 'submission' in the subject line. We do our best to respond to every submission within two weeks.
Short Fiction: There is nothing sanitized about the stories we publish; we won't censor your story, and we don't want you to censor it either. We're interested in fiction pieces between 400 and 2,500 words, but we will consider shorter or longer pieces of exceptional quality.
Poetry: Good poetry takes a word, a phrase, a sentence and loads it with as much meaning as possible. Don't send us a nursery rhyme (unless it's just a damn good nursery rhyme). Poems should be single-spaced, titled, with clear stanza breaks.
Non-Fiction: We're interested in creative non-fiction. This can be a narrative piece, an essay, or something else entirely—you're free to challenge form. Show us how you see the world. Non-fiction pieces should be between 250 and 2,000 words.
Visual Art: We now accept submissions of visual art, including but not limited to photography, drawings, painting, sculptures, and graphic design. If you think it's something we might want to showcase, send us a photo or scan in the form of a JPEG, PDF, or PNG.
